Privacy Policy

Last updated September 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information StoryMuse ("we", "us") collects when you use the StoryMuse website and screenplay studio (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information. Your name, email address, and sign-in details, and, if you request beta access, what you tell us about your writing.

Your content. Manuscripts, screenplays, and other files you upload; stories, notes, and comments you write; instructions you give the AI; and the screenplays and analysis the Service generates for you.

Payment information. When you subscribe or buy credits, payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your plan, purchase history, and billing status, but not your full card number.

Usage information. Records of the features you use, AI requests (for example, which model ran and how many tokens it used), and credit balances. We use these to run the Service, enforce usage limits, and bill correctly.

Technical information. Browser type, device information, IP address, and logs needed to keep the Service secure and working. We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as your theme.

2. How we use information

  • To provide the Service: store your work, run the workflows and AI features you choose, and let you share stories with collaborators.
  • To process payments and manage credits.
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To communicate with you about your account, beta access, and changes to the Service.
  • To improve the Service, for example by reviewing AI traces when debugging a failed workflow.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to train AI models.

3. AI processing

When you use an AI feature, the relevant parts of your content (for example, the text of your story and your instructions) are sent to the AI model that performs the task. We route requests through OpenRouter, which sends them to the model provider (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google). We send an internal account identifier with these requests, which OpenRouter hashes before passing it on, to help prevent abuse. These providers process the content to return a result; under their API terms, they do not train their models on it.

4. Service providers we share information with

We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for that purpose:

ProviderPurpose
SupabaseDatabase, authentication, and file storage
VercelHosting and application infrastructure
OpenRouter and AI model providers (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google)Running AI features
LangSmith (LangChain)Tracing and debugging AI workflows
StripePayments and subscriptions
ResendAccount and notification emails
ElevenLabsVoice features, if you use them

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the Service, or as part of a merger or acquisition (with notice to you).

5. Sharing you control

If you share a story, the people you share it with can see that story's content and, depending on the permission you grant, comment on or edit it.

6. Retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is open. When you delete a story or your account, we delete the associated content from our active systems within a reasonable period; backups and logs are removed on their normal cycle. We may keep billing records as required by law.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access and export: you can download your screenplays from the editor, and you can ask us for a copy of your information.
  • Correction: you can update your account details in Settings.
  • Deletion: you can delete stories at any time, and ask us to delete your account by contacting support@storymuse.art.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, to object to or restrict certain processing). Contact us to exercise them.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls that limit each story to its owner and the people it is shared with, and restricted internal access. No system is perfectly secure.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes

We will update this policy as the Service changes. If we make material changes, we will notify you before they take effect.
