Terms of Service
Last updated September 27, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of StoryMuse, including the website at storymuse.art and the StoryMuse screenplay studio (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
StoryMuse is an AI-assisted screenplay studio. You can adapt a novel or story into a screenplay, import an existing screenplay for analysis, revise a screenplay, or create an original one, and then refine your work in an editor with AI assistance.
The Service is currently in beta. Features may change, be limited, or be removed, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service.
- You are responsible for your account, for keeping your sign-in credentials secure, and for all activity under your account.
- Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Tell us promptly at support@storymuse.art if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Your content
You own your content. "Your content" means anything you upload or write in the Service, such as manuscripts, screenplays, notes, and instructions, and the screenplays and other material the Service generates for you ("Output").
- You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, and display your content only to operate and improve the Service for you, including sending it to the AI providers that power the features you use (see our Privacy Policy).
- We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
- You are responsible for having the rights to the material you upload. If you adapt a work you did not write, you must own or have permission to adapt it, or it must be in the public domain.
- If you share a story with collaborators, they can view (and, depending on the permission you grant, comment on or edit) that story.
4. AI-generated output
- AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or similar to output produced for other users. Review it before relying on it.
- As between you and us, you own the Output generated for you, to the extent the law allows. Copyright protection for AI-assisted work varies by country and may be limited.
- You are responsible for how you use Output, including making sure your use does not infringe anyone's rights.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to:
- upload material you don't have the right to use;
- create content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually exploits minors, or promotes violence against real people;
- attempt to access other users' content or accounts, probe or disrupt the Service, or bypass usage limits;
- resell or provide the Service to others, or scrape it, without our written permission;
- use the Service in ways that violate the usage policies of our AI providers.
We may suspend or remove content or accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Plans, credits and payment
- Paid plans are billed monthly through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices are shown before you buy.
- Plans and add-ons grant story credits (one story credit runs one full workflow: New, Adapt, Revise, or Import) and AI edit credits. Credits do not expire and roll over while your account is open.
- A credit is used when a workflow or AI edit runs. If a workflow fails because of an error on our side, we refund the credit.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future charges; credits already granted stay in your account.
- Except where required by law or stated here, payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@storymuse.art.
7. Beta features and changes
We may add, change, or remove features, and change these Terms. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by email or in the app) before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
8. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. On termination we will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your content, except where we are prevented by law or by the reason for termination.
9. Disclaimers
The Service and all Output are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
